Zig Zigla
Zig Ziglar once said, “When you are tough on yourself, life is going to be infinitely easier on you..“. The quote is very true for all the entrance examinations, esp. those which I have appeared for during the years. Here I am focusing on FMS entrance, and will tell you 7 steps that are applicable to crack any MBA entrance.
1. Solve previous year question papers in examination setup: After your preliminary preparation is over, that is, you are over with all topics etc, this is the time to check yourself against reality. Better even, attempt one/two mocks based on the exam, too.
2. Pick out peculiarities: Every single exam has one or more peculiarity that is not associated with others. FMS, for example, needs speed, command on vocabulary and has simple mathematics questions. It also had relatively easy reading comprehensions.
3. Focus on peculiarity: Improve speed, vocabulary for FMS cracking. Since there is practically no sectional cut-offs, you may well focus on your key area to improve upon percentile.
4. Learn to sacrifice: You don’t really need to fetch each and every mark or solve every question. Learn about your weakness, it may be travelling salesman problem, or say, relationship questions. You may steer clear of these questions in an examination while leaving time to try them at end, if you get time. On the other hand, a question may come from your area of strength, but on examination day you might be unable to solve. NEVER make it a question of pride that you must solve it… Please make prudent decisions to maximize your score!
5. Solve as many as practice sets as possible: And, after the test, analyse where you could have got more marks. For a 3 hour test, nothing less than 2 hours analysis is required.
6. Two days before exams, take back-to-back tests: Take two mock papers back-to-back in examination condition. This helps in getting over the last minutes’ loss of focus in actual exam and also gives you a much wider and longer span of concentration.
7. Relax one day prior to exam, no solving papers, questions etc. A single wrong question or low marks may affect the confidence, this is not the time for it…
And lastly, Relax! Relax!! Relax!!! Watch TV, movies, play games, sports, talk, chat, drink!!! It is nothing, but an exam!
