      if x- 1/x = 2 . then x^4 + 1/x^4 = ?

        x4 + 1/x4 = [x2+1/x2]^2 – 2 (x2)(1/x2) = [(x-1/x)2 +2x(1/x)]2 -2 = [22 +2]2 -2 = 34
