Lets discuss problems and strategies related to GMAT / CAT / MBA quantitative ability here.
There is a shortage of tubelights, bulbs and fans in a village. It is found that
• All houses do not have either tubelight or bulb or fan.
• exactly 19% of houses do not have just one of these.
• atleast 67% of houses do not have tubelights.
• atleast 83% of houses do not have bulbs.
• atleast 73% of houses do not have fans.
What percentage of houses have
(i) all three items tubelight, bulb and fan missing?
(ii)exactly 2 items missing?
Let there are 100 houses
so number of items required = 300
number of item missing in whole village = 67+83+73=223
19 houses not have any 1 of these so
->100-19=81 houses should not have 2 or 3 item in there house
-> 223-19=204 item missing in this 81 house
let X number of house have 2 item missing so 81-X houses have 3 item missing
so-> 2X + 3(81-X)=204
X=39
81-x= 42 houses not have any of these item ..and 39 have 2 items missing
