A TOTAL BAN ON CHILD LABOUR IS A MUST : SATYARTHI
- Census 2011 – India has over 4 million working children.
- (2008 -12)
– 45,269 cases of child labour reported
– Only 7% (3,394) reached conviction
Child Labour Amendment Bill, 2012
What the Bill provides | Amendments Mr. Satyarthi wants | |

1 | Child labour is prohibited in only select industries identified as hazardous. | All forms of child labour should be prohibited upto the age of 14. |

4 | Only employers who violate the law are to be held accountable. | Enforcement aganecy employees should also be held responsible if children are found working in their jusridiction. |
5 | Doesn't specify that it is non - bailable. | Child Labour must be made a cognisable & non-bailable offence. |
6 | No provision for Rehabilitation. | Rehabilitation should be made an integral part of the law. |
