Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Bill
- Bill needed :
- To protect the interests of consumers
- To establish regulatory body at centre and state.
——- For ethical and transparent business practices in real estate sector.
- Bill provides
- Mandatory registration of all projects.
- Mandatory registration of all agents.
- Mandatory disclosure of information of registered project – details of promoters, layout plan, land status, schedule of execution, stauts of approvals.
- 50% (earlier 70% – UPA) of buyer’s investment into an escrow account that would be used only for construction of that project.
- Bill finally bring :
- Fast track mechanism to resolve disputes.
- Ensure greater accountability towards consumers.
- Reduce frauds and delays.
- Boost domestic and foreign investment in sector.
Many discriminatory laws against Leprosy patients
Law commission 256th Report :
(India had largest no. of new leprosy cases globally – 58%)
Laws :
- Lepers Act 1898 – provides for exclusion, segrgation and medical treatment of pauper lepers & leprosy asylum provision
- personal laws of all religions – ‘Leprosy for more than 2yrs – ground for divorce.
- State Beggary Act – persons with leprosy put under the same category with mental ailment. And medial examination, arrest and detention – allowed for leprosy patients.
- LIC Act – charges higher premium rates for persons with leprosy.
- Several panchayat Raj Acts & state municipal Acts – bars persons with leprosy to contest civic polls.
National Air Quality Index (AQI)
Government will put out real time air quality data of 10 cities first.
Later in all million+ cities.
- WHO – organised studied air pollution levels of 1600 cities of world.
- Delhi – Most pollute capital
- 13 Indian cities out of 20 most polluted cities in world.
Awareness of people.
