Ingredients:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (360ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pack of ladyfingers (Savoiardi biscuits)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee (or espresso) and coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

Make the Mascarpone Mixture
  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture, and beat until smooth and well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assemble the Tiramisu
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long as they can become soggy.
  • Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Serve

Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder. Garnish with dark chocolate shavings, if desired.

Enjoy!
Tiramisu is the perfect dessert for coffee lovers and anyone with a sweet tooth. Its layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling make every bite a delight. Best served chilled, this dessert will be a hit at any gathering or dinner party.
